The Honorable John Eric Hoover
Mayor, City of Port Richey
I was born and raised in the Peoria, Illinois area by two loving parents, Dennis and Sheila Hoover. I am the oldest of their 5 children. Growing up, I studied hard and made sure I was preparing for a successful future. After graduating high school with honors, I enlisted in the Air National Guard to serve my country as well as to take advantage of educational benefits. During that time, I volunteered to serve on active duty in support of Desert Shield/Storm.
Instead of delaying contributing to society, I decided to work full-time and attend college in the evenings. I graduated from McKendree College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and Bachelor’s Degree in Computing and Information Science. My entire career, I have spent working various roles within Information Technology with various fortune 500 companies. In my spare time, I also run my own IT Services and Consulting Business, Hoover Investments, LLC.
I am married to a wonderful and supportive woman named Amanda. We do not have any children but are loving Bunny Parents to our Mini-Rex Rabbits named Oli, Inky and Yogi as well as Kitty Parents to our adopted Cat named Uli. We moved to Port Richey back in 2015 and absolutely love it there. I currently serve on several boards and committees to include Mayor of City of Port Richey, District 9 Director for the Florida League of Mayors, Chairman of the Port Richey Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board, Chairman of the Port Richey Centennial Celebration Committee soon to be replaced by the Port Richey Event Committee, Member of the Port Richey Comprehensive Land Use Planning (CLUP) Committee, Member of the Pasco County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Board, Member of the Pasco County Brownfield Advisory Council, Member of the Florida Republican Mayor’s Association and Member of the Municipal Association of Pasco County.
As you can see, I love and live to serve and thrive on making a positive difference in the world. It is with great honor and privilege that I am fortunate enough to serve as the Mayor of Port Richey and I will continue to do so with unparallelled effort to make sure it remains a thriving, respected and cherished community for many years to come.
