Mayor Joyce L. Davis is a dedicated leader committed to fostering a safe, united, and thriving Dania Beach. First elected to the Dania Beach City Commission in 2020 and re-elected as mayor in 2024 with the highest number of votes citywide, she has championed responsible growth, public safety, and community-driven initiatives that enhance the quality of life for all residents.

Education and Leadership Development

Originally from Maryland, Mayor Davis earned her bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Maryland at College Park. She went on to receive a master’s degree in Leadership with a concentration in English from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Human Services at Walden University, with a concentration in Community Intervention and Leadership.

A Vision for a Thriving Dania Beach

Since taking office, Mayor Davis has led initiatives to make Dania Beach pristine, environmentally healthy, and economically strong for future generations. Her work includes securing major investments in infrastructure, advancing flood mitigation efforts, expanding public art,and advocating for policies that support small businesses and responsible development. She is also deeply committed to health and wellness initiatives, promoting programs that encourage residents and city employees to lead healthier lives.

Commitment to Arts and Community Engagement

A passionate supporter of public art and cultural enrichment, Mayor Davis has brought transformative projects to Dania Beach and sponsored the City’s first-ever Arts Park. Notable projects include the “Let Love Guide Your Way” weathervane at City Hall, the “Sea It. Live It. Love It.” and LOVE beach murals, in addition to the award-winning “Looking Forward” mural. In August 2025, Wyland’s 1.5 Million Dollar bronze “Sea Turtle Beach” sculpture, the first of its kind in Florida, was installed as part of the city’s growing Art in Public Places program. Under her leadership, Dania Beach is emerging as a premier destination for arts and entertainment in Broward County.

Decades of Service in Education, Nonprofits and Business

With more than 20 years of experience as an educator and counselor, Mayor Davis has served in middle schools across Maryland and Florida, advocating for academic excellence, youth empowerment, and self-development programs. As Founder and Executive Director of Pearl Girlz, LLC, she launched initiatives to prevent bullying and empower young women through mentorship that builds confidence, leadership skills, and self-worth. Her nonprofit leadership also includes serving as Vice President of the Ancient Spanish Monastery Foundation, where she preserved the “oldest building in the Western Hemisphere” and spearheaded fundraising efforts that honored community and business leaders at the annual Legacy Gala. In the private sector, her tenure with Taylor Woodrow strengthened her business acumen as she contributed to landmark developments such as the Diplomat Oceanfront Residences and forged partnerships with the iconic Diplomat Hotel.
