The Honorable Chopper Davis
Mayor, City of New Port Richey
My home is New Port Richey, Florida which is a vibrant small town with 17,000 citizens and 5 square miles. I moved to New Port Richey in 1983 where I opened a small business and fell in love with this waterfront town and have been an active community member ever since. I’ve seen the community grow in “leaps and bounds” as an energetic city that has many small businesses located on the beautiful Cotee River. Economic Development has been my driving theme to develop and improve our New Port Richey Community. Being a believer in “home rule”, I am proud to say that New Port Richey has become a Florida premier destination.
Volunteering and being involved in the revitalization of our town has been my number one goal. I have been an active member of the community for many years. Serving 9 years on our city council as a council member and now as our town Mayor. Other volunteer responsibilities I have undertaken are:
Alzheimer’s Association volunteer
NPR Fireman’s Pension Board Member
Special Olympics volunteer
“The Volunteer Way of NPR” donor
Chasco Fiesta volunteer
Center of Independence supervisor/volunteer
Sertoma speech and hearing clinic volunteer
African American club member
Metropolitan Ministries donor
Habitat for Humanity volunteer
I was brought up in a Military – Airforce family and I served in the US Army. My college degree is in Education from Northern Michigan University. I’ve traveled extensively and moved every few years due to being a “Military Child”. I enjoy being a State and Florida High school certified referee/umpire in baseball, soccer and volleyball. I’m also a FAA commercial pilot. As a true believer in “Family First” and community volunteerism I found a true hometown in New Port Richey. “I am New Port Richey” is our slogan.
