The Honorable Edward Freeman
Mayor, Town of Lady Lake
Mayor Freeman was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on September 26, 1948. He joined the US Army in April of 1969. After graduating from US Army Aviation School, he served as a helicopter pilot for one year in the Republic of Vietnam. After being released for active duty, Mayor Freeman moved to Connecticut and began his career in commercial photography.
In 2015, he moved to Florida and became interested in the town government. In 2017, he closed his business and retired. In 2021, Mayor Freeman ran for election to the Town of Lady Lake Commission and in 2023 the commission appointed him mayor. Due to a change in commissioner terms in Lady Lake, he will not stand for re-election until 2026.
In addition to his mayoral duties, Mayor Freeman is a member of the Lake/Sumter MPO Governing Board, 1st Vice President of the Lake County League of Cities and a member of the Keep Lake Beautiful Advisory Committee.
